Our Beliefs

There is room for diversity of ideas within the body of Christ, and we do not expect that every person will believe the same on secondary issues. However, on these essentials of the faith we agree.

God

We believe that there is only one living and true God, the creator of all things, who eternally exists in three coequal Persons: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ –

We believe that Jesus Christ, the eternal Son, fully God and fully man, is the perfect expression of God and the only way to Him. Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice to pay for the sins of humanity dying on a cross, rose from the dead, and now sits at God’s right hand.

Holy Spirit –

We believe that the Holy Spirit is coequal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He provides Christians with power for living, spiritual gifts, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. As Christians, we seek to live under His control daily.

The Bible

We believe that the Bible, consisting of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, was written by men, divinely inspired, and without error in the original writings. The Bible is the final authority on what we believe and how we live.

-continued below-

Mankind –

We believe that all men and women are created in the image of God, yet have sinned and fallen short of His expectations. They are therefore separated from Him and completely unable, on their own, to return to God, the source of their life.

Salvation–

We believe salvation is a gift of grace from God received through faith alone in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, which is neither earned nor secured in part or whole by any individual's virtue or work.

The Church –

We believe that the church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the church are those who have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving Him and by making healthy disciples of Jesus Christ.

Future Things –

We believe that Jesus Christ will come again to judge the living and the dead. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life in Heaven. Heaven and hell are real places of eternal existence.
